My progress

http://marina4tenglish.blogspot.com.es/2012/10/dear-sonia.html

My progress from 2012-2014

My first post was an email to my teacher, and my final post was can Money buy everything? So yeah, my last post was not a farewell but I think that we should do another post doing this. So I wrote a letter, it may seem like a little summary of our life and also now I’m doing it a little like a comparison about my progress. Let’s go back to the start! Firstly, the structure is completely different from the first email or letter structure, while the last post is an answer with a free structure. In the first ones the structure was a little chaotic and the second ones have their arguments. Even though the first post I only used one connector to link the information (however) on the last post I used more connectors. And the structure of the sentence is more complex in the second one.
Related to the vocabulary- in the first my vocabulary was poor and in my opinion I have progressed. The last post I tried to avoid repeating words. Thirdly the content in the last post is richer. I did a lot of posts, so with practice I have improved on writings. And maybe now I think different this time.

http://marina4tenglish.blogspot.com.es/2012/11/self-evaluation.html

Between my first oral presentations I talked about Tukanas, and my last one where I talked about my TDR. I have improved in content, vocabulary and also the pronunciation. I really have a bad time when I’m doing the oral presentations and at the first one I was really shy and nervous but in my TDR presentation I was not so nervous, only a little bit. Maybe because I did a similar presentation some days before.
Moreover I am still nervous in each presentation that I have to do. And I know that I have to improve, especially with the body language.
In conclusion I can say that day by day nothing changed, but when you look back for example doing this post you can see that all is different. You continue being you but your mind changes completely, so well we can affirm that the experiences change, you, learn about them. And don´t want that it’s seems like a farewell speech, because I think that I will continue to write in this blog because finally I understand that when you write your posts it’s time to express yourself and you express your ideas and no matter what the people thing about it. It’s only you and your mind so it’s sounds a good combination. And remember: no matter how much it hurts, you have to hold your head up and keep going and also you can write about it. And enjoy your time because time flies. Maybe the things only last the exact time to be perfect.

Kisses see you!

Oral presentation

I am sure! I would choose these ones. The oral presentation shows I can be in front of the public talking with English and also that I can work with a group.  We talked about humor and I did it with two friends of mine.  We enjoy doing it. In my opinion our pronunciation were in an acceptable way.
Related on the writing, I have chosen this one “ if I Knew then..” because I really enjoy to wrote it, with a short time I remember all my important moments in my life and I had to think how improves and resole those experiences. And I realize how time flies.
In conclusion, doing a lot of practice is successful. So I did it the best I could! And I hope that you like it!

If I Knew back then...

Dear Marina
Firstly, welcome to the best and worst time of your next six years. I am saying it because if you are prepared for it and you may know how to act. So it's time to break the rules! But be careful, I know that you are young and wild but you can't think that the high school is the best place in the world. At last you are old, and it's like a high school musical...
Secondly, don't spend your time studying only you need to work a little bit and the most important thing: read! read a lot of books and you will fall in love with them. Also you need to go out with your friends, every afternoon, enjoy these little things and don't get obsessed with your marks because they don't matter. it's only a way yo classify how you adapt to this system. Teach yourself! Laugh more, cry, less, kiss more, criticise less, enjoy more, play more because when you stop thinking you will know that everything changed. Life goes by too fast. all you have to do is make sure that your life has started to be the best adventure. And don't remember to search what you can offer to the world.
Be your own heroine!
Love,
Marina

can money buy everything?

Sorry for the cries of my dog I couldn't shut him up

Money can't buy everything. We mustn't change our society to a marketization society (a society where you can buy everything, where the money will move the world.) So, it’s obvious that money can buy a lot of things but we need to put some limits. These limits are used to stop our society degenerating into a society where the civic values pass take second place. However if in some case it happens, every time we will want more and more and more money we will never be satisfied. In my opinion if it happens we'll only see humans, but not humanity. So for me the limit is: money only should buy material things.  It must be the unique limit of our society, the first law. When the money can buy the intelligence or love or every abstract thing, we need to stop and to think again. Money should only  buy material things, nothing more. In our hands we have the power. The power to change everything that we propose. We need to believe in ourselves, we have the enough strength to keep the continuity of humanity . The only way to do it is not to give power to money. We are able to move the world in another way, the way that the humans build a society and not robots.

Villarreal fined less than £10,000 in Dani Alves race row after fan threw a banana
"Villarreal have been fined less than £10,000 by the Royal Spanish Football Federation after a fan threw a banana at Barcelona's Dani Alves in April.
The League's Competition Committee took into account the fact the supporter was identified and banned.
The fine, which equates to 12,000, is in relation to an incident in the 75th minute of their 2-2 La Liga draw at El Madrigal when the defending champions were awarded a corner.
As Alves prepared to take the set piece a Villarreal supporter threw a banana in his direction.
Spanish police have detained the person and charged him with a 'breach of fundamental rights and civil liberties'.
Images of Alves, a Brazil international, picking up the banana and taking a bite during the La Liga match were beamed around the world and he was widely backed by fellow players and other public figures who denounced the apparent racist taunt.
A 26-year-old man was taken into custody last week before being charged and released and would be appearing before a judge at a yet-to-be-determined date, a police spokeswoman said."
Villarreal was fined 10000 by the Spanish FA after a fan threw a banana at Dani Alves, a player of Barça. The reaction of Alves was to eat it. And this picture is seen around  the world, a lot of followers  have copied it.

In my opinion this shows that racism is still present in our lives. And we need to do something to change it. We are in a modern times and it is unacceptable. So the action to eat the banana was the best thing that he could do. The world is talking about it. He gets to make publicity about this fact. We need to fight against racism and that all the world in that moment think: we need to change it. We need to try it because with a closed mind you can’t go so far. We can’t progress if we still having the same opinions. We need to change the chip.

One in five parents who move buy bigger homes because their children are living at home into young adulthood

"As many as one in five parents who moved house in the past few months wanted a bigger home because their children are staying at home until their late 20s, a new study reveals.
A survey of almost 13,000 adults by Royal Mail found that 21 per cent chose a larger property to prepare for their children staying with them into young adulthood.
Half of those questioned said they waited longer than they wanted to move house, mainly because of a shortage of suitable properties.Alongside this, patience is proving a virtue in the house-buying market with people prepared to sit it out to find the right home for them.’
The survey follows a second survey this week, which revealed parents are putting their financial future at risk to help adult children get on the property ladder.
The expectation that parents will help their offspring buy their first home now applies to all classes, not just the rich, according to a report from the Halifax.
But it places a ‘significant emotional and financial burden’ on ageing parents, the report says.
Nearly four in ten parents who have given support to their children to buy a property are concerned about their own finances in later life, including pension cash."

Four in ten parents who have helped their children buy property are concerned about their own finances later in life. Also one in five parents moved into a bigger home because their children are living with them until their late 20s.

With this fact we can see that parents are not as strong as they used to be. I mean that in most cases kids sometimes need a kick up the back side to go out and find a work. Parents are overprotecting their children, it’s seems like they are putting their children in a bubble in a bubble. In trying to protect their children, they only spoil them. We have to learn to fight for get something. And parents do the opposite to help children do what they need to do. You can’t move to a bigger house for your children, and you can’t affect your finances because you want to protect your children. These young adults are old enough to sort out their lives. Society gets worse.

Oral presentations

Nowadays at school we are used to doing oral presentations and I’m absolutely agree with this change. We are in a time of change. We are moving for innovation, the news technology, new findings. So we need to do a lot of presentations. I’m sure that all the students suffer the terrible situation of standing in front of everybody. You can’t breathe, your body trembles, everybody is looking at you and you need to talk, you have to say something. But you can’t. For example my oral presentation of TDR it was terrible, my worst oral presentation of all my life. My voice was trembling, the words couldn’t came out of my mouth. The truth is that I felt rather stupid. But at that moment you have to talk you don’t have another option. (For bad luck)
With all this I mean that we need to do more oral presentations, we do a lot but not enough. We have to practice until we feel more confidant, until it seems more natural. In all works you need to know how communicate in front of the public, how to speak with people that you don’t know. Even though I hate to do oral presentations I know we need more practice.
